Sunday Gospel My words will not pass away’. The words of Jesus are life-giving. In every situation that we face in life, in our thoughts and feeling the words of Jesus bring light. Every word he used both consoled and challenged the disciple to draw closer to him. The only way that we will hear the words that he speaks to us today is to spend time in prayer. Giving time over to prayer can be difficult, we can convince ourselves that ‘I have more important things to do’. If prayer is absent from the life of the disciple, faith dies and if faith dies there is no hope and our love for God and one another falls into the darkness of fear and doubt. Jesus makes us a promise that his words will not fail. Make time to listen to what he is saying to you!

Devotion to Joseph can lead to a deeper faith and a closer relationship to Jesus and to Mary. Pope Francis emphasised that “faith makes us open to the quiet presence of god at every moment of our lives, in every person and in every situation”. He recognised that Saint Joseph knew this in his heart and this faith allowed him, and will allow us, to move forward although the way may not be clear. Like many today, especially those who might be struggling with the questions of life itself, Joseph had to face some challenging situations. Yet faith sustained and supported him when the scene seemed to be changing and the changes were communicated to him by God. Joseph was able to respond in a positive manner. (Bishop Michael Neary).
