The St. Teresa's Parish Bulletin for Sunday, 15th May 2022

Sunday 15 May 2022,

Fifth Sunday of Easter (Year C).

Synod 2023: Communion, Participation, Mission.

Sunday Gospel The followers of Jesus are invited to discover the kind of person that he was. Jesus wasn’t liberal in his views about our understanding of God and the world around us, he was radical. The roots of his mission are in the Father’s love for all creation and he turns on its head the theories of community and life. He teaches that he will be glorified by means of the cross. The cross is an instrument of shame and torture, but Jesus uses it as a means to bring new life to creation. ‘When I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw all men to myself’. Christ’s glory comes from his self- emptying so that salvation is offered to all.

Holy Father announces the date for World Grandparents’ Day 24 July 2022, “In old age they will still bear fruit” (Ps 92:15). These words of the Psalmist are glad tidings, a true “gospel” that we can proclaim to all on this second World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly. They run counter to what the world thinks about this stage of life, but also to the attitude of grim resignation shown by some of us elderly people, who harbour few expectations for the future.
