The St. Teresa's Parish Bulletin for Sunday, 1st May 2022

Sunday 1 May 2022

Third Sunday of Easter

(Year C)

Synod 2023: Communion, Participation, Mission.

Sunday Gospel Jesus asked Peter three time do you love me? Of course Jesus knew the answer to the question, but he wanted to make sure that also Peter knew the answer. Peter denied Jesus three times and the Lord asks for his love three times. It was Jesus’ way of renewing Peter’s faith, he was prepared to forgive Peter and to start again, giving a new faith to his first disciple. The Resurrection of Jesus is the gift that renews our faith, hope and love, it brings about the ability within our loves to transform all our denials and waywardness so that from our hearts we can truthfully love God and our neighbour.

Tenth World Meeting of Families, as announced in a video message by Pope Francis, will be held in a “polycentric and widespread” format and will have different features than meetings in previous years. However, the event, already postponed one year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, cannot ignore the different global situation caused by this healthcare emergency. The main event will therefore be held in Rome, which will be attended by delegates from Episcopal Conferences all around the world as well as representatives from international movements involved in pastoral care for families. At the same time, each diocese is invited to organise similar events in their own local communities. Search romefamily2022.

Sincere thanks to all who contributed so generously to the recent Special Collection for Ukraine. Nationally, this collection has raised, to date over €3.25 million. The war in Ukraine, and the terrible suffering which has resulted, has seen a tremendous outpouring of compassion and generosity from our parish communities. Your contributions will bring much-needed relief to those in the region whose lives and livelihoods have been devastated. The funds raised will be used by the international Catholic Church agency, Caritas Internationalis, which is currently operating on the ground in Ukraine and its surrounding areas. We continue to keep the people of Ukraine in our thoughts, praying for peace and an end to this appalling humanitarian crisis.
