The St. Teresa’s Parish Bulletin for Sunday, 27th November 2022

Sunday 27 November 2022,

First Sunday of Advent

Synod 2023: Communion, Participation, Mission.

Sunday Gospel You too must stand ready’. Jesus asks his disciples to stand ready, ready for his coming among us in Word and Sacrament and at the end of time. There are many ways that Jesus wants us to be ready for action, the action of prayer and the service of others, especially those who are in any kind of need. Advent is the time and space to wait in joyful hope for the coming of the Saviour. We are not to stand idly by as if there is nothing to do, we are to actively wait by the love and that we give and receive to one another.

SVP Christmas Appeal 2022 Dear Parishioners, The present times are difficult for everyone. For many the Christmas Season imposes an extra burden. The families and individuals affected are supported very generously by parishioners’ responses throughout the year and particularly during our Christmas Appeal. This season we are working in partnership with the young people and staff in St Teresa’s Youth Centre to make up hampers to deliver to families who have requested assistance. We are not collecting toys this year, but Argos, Smyth or B&M vouchers would be greatly appreciated as this would allow parents and carers to choose suitable presents for their children. The vouchers may be placed in the collection box, preferably on or before Sunday 11 December 2022 to allow us time to distribute them to those requesting help. We thank you for your continuing support throughout the year which allows us to give assistance when and where it’s most needed. God Bless! Peter McAlister,President.

Prayer f or Advent Lord, help us, in our search for truth, to stay awake, never thinking that we are secure because at any time we might find that our house has been broken into, never despairing because you will show yourself at an hour we do not expect. Lord, we thank you that when we were foolish, irresponsible or stubborn, some people did not give up on us but stayed awake, confident that we would return at an hour they did not expect.
