The Ascension of the Lord Sunday of God’s Word

(Year C)

Synod 2023: Communion, Participation, Mission.

Sunday Gospel The Ascension of Jesus fills his followers with joy. Joy comes from the knowledge and belief that where he has gone, we will follow and our destination is our heavenly home where there is the joy of living in peace with God. We are called to share that joy today, it is a gift given to believers and we must let it radiate from our hearts. Sometimes this can be a challenge, we are not always in good form or have worries that can distract us from accepting the joy of our faith in Christ. We should always be ready to start again, to renew God’s love within our hearts, even take a break or let go of gloom and let the joyful light of God’s glory live within our lives.
